about
i wrote this in the winter of 2019, trying to reshape my focus away from what i was seeing a lot of at the time; an oversaturation of trauma porn and Black suffering.
we all need to know what our roles are as we use Black liberation in all its ideological and physical forms as a guiding light toward the future we aim to shape for ourselves
i loved drinking delicious pints of drygate's disco forklift truck with my friends at the pub before lockdowns hit. i really missed hugging my friends too.
this song is a testament to the process of healing
much love x
lyrics
awaken my luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
been this way since i remember
just a little but out of it
the forklift truck my mouth grows wet for
keeps us intact
Black people healing
allow me to heal them, o!
we break for winter
(Black people healing)
and we break this december
(allow me to heal them, o)
golden virginia, menthol swan
kaya, keep me warm
golden virginia, menthol swan
kaya, keep me warm, o!
golden virginia, menthol swan
kaya, keep me warm
golden virginia, menthol swan
kaya, keep me warm, o!
Black people healing
allow me to heal them, o!
we break for winter
(Black people healing)
and we break this december
(allow me to heal them, o)
